About this beach
Located on the Gwynedd coast within Eryri National Park, this beach faces south‑west across Cardigan Bay at the mouth of the River Dyfi. The shoreline is steep and shelving, with strong currents influenced by the Dyfi estuary. A harbour lies to the east, while dunes stretch away to the north‑west. The coastal waters and surrounding area are internationally important for nature conservation, designated as a Ramsar wetland and further protected as the Dyfi Estuary Special Protection Area, the Lleyn Peninsula and Sarnau Special Area of Conservation, and the Dyfi Site of Special Scientific Interest. Water quality is monitored at a sampling point located one kilometre west of the car park.
