About this beach
This long sandy beach sits below a rocky outcrop on the north bank of the Mawddach Estuary, with the seaside village of Fairbourne on the opposite shore. The bathing water lies within the Lleyn Peninsula and Sarnau Special Area of Conservation, with the Mawddach Estuary and Barmouth Hillside both designated as Sites of Special Scientific Interest. Water quality is monitored at a sampling point opposite North Avenue, near the Marwyn Hotel.
